Because of her own past medical history (breast cancer), Alison has
a preference for carrying out Paramedical Micropigmentation procedures (medical tattooing), especially re-creating the appearance
of areolae and nipples for women that have had breast reconstructive surgery following mastectomy, together with scar camouflage.
Such is her skill and reputation in carrying out these procedures that she regularly receives referrals from a number of Consultant
Plastic Surgeons in her region. She also regularly trains medical staff (breast care nurses etc) in the practice of areolae
and nipple re-creation for both the English and Scottish NHS.
Following on from that, she is about to embark on
trials for a positive and active therapy for people who have suffered scarring after burns. This non-surgical procedure has
already been trialled in Germany with tremendous results, and is not dissimilar to Collagen Induction Therapy.
Alison
recently became a Professional Member of The British Burn Association and attended their 44th Annual Scientific
Meeting in Salisbury, hosted by the Odstock Burns Unit at Salisbury District Hospital, the hospital where the Consultant Surgeons refer patients
to her. This gave her the opportunity to meet with a considerable number of Consultant Plastic Surgeons and Lead
Nurses from Burns Unit from across the UK, the vast majority of whom, agreed that the psycho-social benefit of improving the
appearance of burn and hypertrophic scars would be of immense value to the patient. It is anticipated that she will give a
presentation at the next British Burns Association meeting in 2012 at Edinburgh, which will be co-hosted by ISBI, the
International Society for Burns Injuries.
Her various Paramedical Procedures are now recognised by 3 leading private
health insurance providers in the UK.
